COMM 100: The Mass Media and Society
The purpose of this class is to teach the different aspects of mass media and how the media has changed over the past hundred years. The course focused on the evolution of media through newspapers, radio, television and film. We also discussed the interactions between society and the media and determine how the changes in the media have effected us and the possible implications of media changes in the future. On-line Postings
The written assignments that we had to do for this class consisted of three on-line postings in an Angel dropbox. The on-line postings were short reactions to an article from one of three websites (http://www.freepress.net/newsroom/news_headlines, http://www.variety.com/, http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/industry). These three online newspapers report on important news in the media industry, such as music, TV and film. Our responsibility was to select an article, then write our reaction to the information given in the articles. The three articles I chose were different from each other. The first was on Super Bowl Commercials, the second was on the Oscars and the final posting was on a new music craze called Electronic Dance Music (EDM). I have combined all three on-line postings into the one document below.
